Hussain Al Obaidly Partner Accounting & Auditing was originally started as Qatar Accounting & Auditing in the year 1987 and has been one of the foremost Auditing firms in the State of Qatar since then. We are registered in the Ministry of Business & Trade in the State of Qatar under License No (5), and listed amongst the top accredited firms in all financial institutions, Ministry of Economy & Finance and the Department of Public Revenues & Income Taxes.

During my study in Egypt, I used to be an avid follower of newspapers (even today I remain so) because those days newspapers were the only means that informed us about the happenings in our country and across globe. In these newspapers, one of the main pages was reserved for publishing the financial statements of banks and shareholder companies. During the course of time I noticed that all these financial statements bore the signature of the Certified Public Auditor. It was around this time a thought came into my mind “why not I become the one who signs these financial statements of big companies and institutions in my home country one day?” Thereafter I put in all the hard work and studied accounting to become a certified auditor myself in the later days.

In the early 1980s I started working in oil and gas industry and during this phase of life I came in contact with quite a few experienced and qualified personnel of my field and gained a lot of experience through them. Some of these staff were Shell secondees working worldwide. One of them was an Australian who later became a consultant to the Qatar Ministry of Energy and suggested me the name of our firm as Qatar Accounting & Auditing and even helped us in designing the logo given below:

After serving in the industry for over 25 years we recently changed the name of our firm to Hussain Al Obaidly Partner Accounting & Auditing.

After starting Qatar Accounting & Auditing in 1987 I visited one of our neighbouring countries to meet experienced and qualified accounting and auditing professionals. During this visit I met a very experienced as well as qualified professional and he agreed to partner me at Qatar Accounting & Auditing and once we obtained necessary license from the stipulated Qatari authorities, my dream firm Qatar Accounting & Auditing was formally born.

During these initial days one day we visited a CEO of a big shareholding company which had several branches in Qatar. We tried to convince him to allocate the accounting and auditing work of at least one of their branches. But he strictly refused this idea because we were new in the field. We agreed with him that we were new in the field but also explained him that we had qualified audit staff who had the experience of working with international firm. But he stood his ground and refusedto encourage a national, professional audit firm to engage in for audit services. Having failed to convince him, we left his office with lot of anger and disappointment. On our way back to office, we stopped by the office of an old Qatari businessman to whom we had just begun to provide auditing services a few months before. The moment he saw us, he knew we were not happy and had some issue. He asked us what was that bothering us and we explained him what had happened earlier that day. Hearing this he did not even offer us customary Qatari welcome and instead he immediately told us to go back to the CEO of that shareholder company and tell him that if he did not give auditing work to us, we would approach the then Qatar Emir who was the good friend of this elderly Qatari businessman. The CEO relented and agreed to give work to us.

Thereafter we grew from strength to strength serving umpteen number of major clients from all spectrum of Qatari society. As years passed, we recruited many more qualified and experienced Arab and non-Arab professionals who became integral part of our firm as well as our success story. Today we render services in all spheres of accounting and auditing such as due diligence, bankruptcy, liquidation etc for major firms, banks, shareholder companies etc. One of the major milestones of our achievements is handling the IPO of Qatar Electricity and Water Company (Kahramaa). This gave us wealth of experience in Accounting & Auditing, Memorandum of Association, issuance of IPO, public dealings etc.

From these humble beginnings, today we have grown up into one of the most sought-after and prominent Accounting & Auditing firms of Qatar, known for our professionalism, work ethics and in-depth knowledge of the field providing specialized services in Auditing, Accounting, Business Advisory Services such as tax due diligence assignment, tax consultancy, corporate governance, and other advisory services associated with financial planning such as business plans, feasibility studies, and valuation services.

All in all, it has been a hard, adventurous yet stupendous journey for us all these years. Every day was a learning curve and it has helped us to reach these professional heights. This arduous yet successful journey is sure to keep us in good stead as we explore newer horizons in the coming years.
